As 2018 comes to an end, CJCJ reflects on a year filled with dedicated service and community collaboration. We would like to share a few of our successes:
Children served by CJCJ programs receive fun gifts to celebrate the holidays!
The Children’s Waiting Rooms is a CJCJ program designed to provide a safe and fun space for children while their parents tend to business with the courts. We understand how hard the holiday season can be for many justice-involved individuals and their children. With this, the Children’s Waiting Rooms provide compassionate support along with festive activities and gifts to instill a sense of holiday joy in program participants.
Every year, the program hosts a holiday gathering where children are able to enjoy festive activities and receive special gifts. Thanks to the Family Giving Tree’s generous donation of nearly a hundred gifts, children in CJCJ programs were excited to receive gifts in celebration of the holidays.

CJCJ’s Cameo House program is an innovative alternative sentencing program that provides community-based services for homeless women and their children in a residential setting. This holiday season, Cameo House staff have been working hard to bring holiday cheer to families in the program. Mothers and their children have had the opportunity to participate in a variety of festive community events, including ice-skating last month.
In addition, the mothers and their children were invited to attend the Annual Angel Tree Christmas party, a ministry outreach hosted by the San Francisco Christian Center. At the party, the mothers and their children enjoyed games, special gifts, and holiday refreshments. According to a Cameo House case manager, Maura Quinn, the event did a beautiful job of helping each resident feel special and cared for this holiday season.

The Federal Reentry Project (FRP) is a reentry court and pretrial program designed to support clients with high needs as they reintegrate into their communities and confront challenges, such as substance abuse. This CJCJ program is devoted to connecting clients with community-based programs that cater to their specific needs.
This season, CJCJ is happy to celebrate the hard work and dedication of a recent graduate and a soon-to-be graduate as they successfully complete the program, while working towards positive futures. According to Wyatt Lim-Tepper, FRP Reentry Court Coordinator, graduations are an inspiring time because they mean that clients may be granted a year reduction on supervision or, for those receiving pretrial services, they may avoid the risks of custody completely.
In the new year, CJCJ looks forward to partnering with the Federal Judiciary Center Quality Improvement program. Program staff will be meeting with collaborative court experts in Washington, D.C. to discuss how to strengthen the program and best support our clients.
